Students Build Robots to Rescue Trapped Valuables
October 16, 2015 | ASG Student Spotlight
ASG’s James, Jackson and Yale were among the members of the Kennedy Catholic Robotics team who built and engineered robots to participate in Grove City College’s sixth annual Wolverine BEST Robotics competition on October 16th and 17th. Jackson and Yale were on the ground constructing the robots, while James supervised as the team manager. The team engineered robots to maneuver through dangerous mines, searching for valuable goods. Each item was worth a certain amount of points depending on how difficult it was for the robots to retrieve it. Kennedy Catholic was one of 19 other teams in the competition, and although they didn’t come back with a win, the students still gained valuable skills.
James said that being an active member of the robotics team has allowed him to use critical thinking skills and helped him see the value of team work.
