Student Government Takes Charge of Event Planning

The ASG Student Government has recently taken charge of planning and organizing student events with much success.  Last month, Student Government, including an expanded Event Organizing Committee which is open to the entire student body, worked in conjunction with ASG staff members to plan and coordinate the Valentine’s Day party and karaoke competition.  In March, Student Government took the lead on planning and organizing the ASG “March Madness” basketball tournament, which was a rousing success.  The idea of holding a basketball tournament, which started with a student’s request, was brought to reality through the hard work and dedication of the Student Government Event Organizing Committee.  The members of this committee are gaining valuable experience in leadership, organization, and event planning.  Additionally, committee members have worked very closely with Marcom Co+ interns on event promotion, helping to ensure the success of these events.  Jayna Choi says, “Student Government works hard to get students involved and to adjust to life here by organizing events for the rest of the students.”  We look forward to seeing what other spectacular events the Student Government Event Organizing Committee has in store for us over the rest of the school year!
