Student Clubs and Organizations Begin to Soar
November 2015 | ASG Student Clubs
American Scholar Group’s student-run clubs have proven extremely successful and have experienced a tremendous growth in both number and membership, since their inception in September. Each club meets at least once a week and students have begun to take responsibility for planning and conducting events.
The music club is currently working on a performance for the ASG winter dance as a follow-up to their stellar Thanksgiving performance. The new business club has become one of the most popular clubs under the leadership of club president Elaine Wu, with David Ho serving as club adviser. The Film Club, under the leadership of Jia Cai, has also proven hugely successful, and its members are learning the basics of film-making in preparation for creating their own cinematic production. Finally, the student events committee has provided an immense amount of assistance to ASG staff in planning and setting up for events. The success of ASG’s student run clubs will only grow over time as student participation continues to increase.
The ASG Music Club created a lovely, endearing surprise for our former employee Catherine (Congrong) Wu at the end of Thanksgiving dinner. The students collaborated among themselves weeks before and secretly practiced the song “See You Again,” by Charlie Pouth and Wiz Khalifa. At the dinner, they surprised everyone with a heartfelt slide-show on the big screen monitors, which displayed all of their favorite memories with Catherine. By the end of the performance, everyone was left in tears by the thoughtfulness of the club and the absence of Catherine.
