School Immersion Camp

American Scholar Group (ASG) School Immersion Programs give international students the opportunity to experience an American school for up to 2 weeks.

Students will attend classes with American peers and teachers and gain access to all the perks of the typical student on the weekdays. Students will also participate in after-school classes at ASG and join cultural immersion activities on the weekends.

School immersion programs give participants a taste of ASG’s full-time program and are especially designed for international students who plan to study in America.

Student Experience

Cultural immersion activities and education-centered tours are planned for ASG students every weekend. These programs are centered on visits to local & major cities, its museums, select universities, and special sites. Depending on the time of the year, participants will also attend school & university sports events such as basketball, American football, or baseball games. Student participants may join ASG students on these events and activities during their school immersion visits. Schedules may also be customized depending on group size and interest.

Program Dates

Immersion camps are held throughout the academic year in any 1 – 2 week period during the following months:

Please note: Some dates may be unavailable because of school or public holidays. Interested participants, school counselors and/or group leaders should reach out to ASG representatives to plan and confirm appropriate visit dates.

Departure & Arrival Dates

Groups and individuals should plan to arrive on the Saturday before the first day of school (Monday) and depart on the Saturday after their last day of school (Friday)

Where are we?

Lessons and activities will primarily take place at ASG headquarters in Greenville, Pennsylvania. Students will stay in ASG housing, attend after-school classes at the ASG offices and will travel to surrounding towns and cities for various activities throughout the week of their visit.

Student Housing & Accommodation

Students will stay at ASG housing facilities depending on group size and the number of participants. Participants will be housed in double rooms.

Program participants will be served two meals a day (breakfast & dinner) at their housing facilities and at the ASG Dining Hall. Lunch may be purchased at school during the weekdays and on any weekend excursions. We ask that students prepare pocket money for an average of US$25/week.

Students may also dine at select local restaurants to sample cuisine from the area. Depending on the time of year, students will also participate in seasonal special dining events with ASG students and staff.

Students will have access to any of the following ASG academic support programs. Participation is optional, however, students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these resources. Participating groups may also request a customized after-school learning program based on the academic interests and needs of their students.

Program participants will experience first-hand what its like to be a student in an American school. They will attend classes, participate in class projects, and interact with American teachers and students. All coursework taken will be conducted on a pass/fail basis. International students will also be paired up with a student mentor who will help them navigate the hallways from class to class and provide them advice about the American education system.

Participants will also have the option of attending after-school academic tutoring programs ranging from TOEFL and SAT prep to American English classes depending on their needs, interests and ability level. (If attending as a group, group leaders/representatives may request customized after-school programs.)

Students will also be matched with an ASG advisor whom they will meet with to discuss their academic goals, interests, and objectives. ASG advisors will work with students to develop a roadmap for achieving these objectives and explore ways to maximize their educational experience.

CAMP FEES & INFORMATION

ASG Immersion programs run from a minimum of 1 week to a maximum of 2 weeks. Please contact your local ASG representatives for pricing information.

  • All activities ticket fees
  • All planned lessons and activities
  • 2 meals a day
  • Transportation to all activities & events

Program fees DO NOT include:

  • International flights
  • Travel or health insurance (Required)
  • Any visa application fees (Visa requirements may differ according to nationalities. Please check if you require a B visa to enter the United States)

Application Procedures

Interested participants and their parents must complete and sign the application and agreement forms accompanying this packet.

Application forms and a 50% deposit of must be submitted at the time of application.

Groups may submit deposits on behalf of all participants, however, total deposits and all applications must be submitted at least three weeks before arrival. The balance is due exactly two weeks before arrival. Please reach out to ASG representatives to plan and finalize dates.

ASG recommends at least US$25/week however, the amount is left to the discretion of each student. ASG will not be liable for any losses and we advise students limit the amount of cash they carry at all times.

Program participants must:

Complete the transportation request form attached to the application
Provide ASG with information about their arrival time and flight number at least two weeks before arrival.

We advise all students to allow a 3-hour window between connecting flights in case of delays.

ASG transportation staff will greet students at PIT and ferry them to our facilities.

Arrival Procedure

(1) Airport Pickup:

Look for ASG Staff Members with the proper identification tags. ASG Staff members will also be carrying signs with the ASG logo at the baggage claim area.

(2) If you cannot find any ASG staff

 Please call the emergency contact numbers provided upon registration.
