Meet Our Schools: Extra-Curriculars at CMHS

While they excel at academics, all of our partner high school’s in the Youngstown, Ohio area offer many opportunities to make friends, explore current and new interests, develop talents and practice skills, and strive for achievement outside of the classroom.

CMHS Speech & Debate:

CMHS boasts a top Speech & Debate Team that is among the top 5 in the United States for total points accumulated.

CMHS boasts over 50 top ten state finishes, over 30 top five state finishes, and 2 state championships.

Members of this year’s team recently qualified to compete at the national level.

Scholarly Activities

Extra-curriculars are important in impressing university admissions, and international students are welcome to join in all of the extracurricular opportunities offered through Cardinal Mooney.

Cultural Activities

Extra-curriculars are a great way to immerse yourself in the American way of life and expand your cultural literacy and explore your creative side.

Leadership Activities

Extra-curriculars are key opportunity to develop and demonstrate leadership. While students can be a leader in almost any club or student organization, some of them are more heavily focused on leadership (which is an important factor in university admissions).

Service Activities

Extra-curriculars are offer a chance to be of service to others and to do good, something taken into consideration by many top universities when making admission decisions. Since Cardinal Mooney is a Catholic school many of their service-related opportunities reflect their religious identity, all students are welcome to contribute to service work regardless of their beliefs about religion.
