Globie Liu Stars on Living Word Christian School’s First Baseball Team
April 13th, 2017| Student Spotlight
Globie Liu, senior at Living Word Christian School, has recently obtained the position of outfielder on his school’s baseball team, the Warriors, during their first season in the league. The past few months have witnessed Globie, his teammates, and the entire Living Word community pulling together to form this new baseball team. To raise money for the necessary athletic equipment, team members held several fundraisers and Living Word principal Jan Chapin also provided a generous donation. After months of preparation, the Warriors played their first game against New Wilmington High School, whose team Globie described as “like titans,” on April 4th. The Warriors have since played two more games and Globie says, “the team is getting better and better, but Pastor Jan is most concerned about us having fun.”
Globie was unsure about joining the team at first, but prompted by his physics teacher, he decided to give it a try. Although he had never played baseball before, Globie quickly learned a lot about the sport, excitedly discovering that he enjoyed the game and the comradery of being part of the Warriors team. “My Teammates really like me and they take care of me a lot.” Globie’s position as outfielder is very crucial to the Warriors, because in their games so far, about half of the time it has been the outfielders who have gotten out the opposing teams’ batters. In addition to playing outfield, Globie also acts as the team photographer. Globie is glad to have joined the Warriors baseball team during his senior year, saying, “it’s a good thing that I joined the team on its first year.” Good luck to Globie and the Living Word Warriors on their upcoming games!
