With the rising cost of university study in the United States financial planning is an increasingly important aspect of academic planning.  However, many international students are unfortunately unaware of the plethora of scholarships available to students wishing to pursue their higher education in the United States.  It is important for students to perform diligent research to discover what scholarships are available to them before they begin their studies.  Most colleges and universities in the U.S. offer Merit Scholarships for students who have achieved exceptional grades during their secondary education.  Check with the institution you plan to attend to see what Merit Scholarships are available.  Additionally, for students who have excelled at sports, many larger universities offer athletic scholarships as an incentive to attract the best athletes for their sports teams.  Finally, many private companies and community organizations also offer scholarships for the college-bound student.  These scholarships typically require some form of community engagement or a written essay, so check the requirements of the individual scholarship before you apply.  ASG partner universities also offer scholarships of up to $112,000 for eligible qualified students.
