American Scholar Group provides great opportunities for international students to attend high school in the United States through our Study in America Program.
Part of what makes the opportunity great are our student services: Residence Life, Dining, Academic, and Transportation.
Today we are looking at the critical role of Transportation.
American Scholar’s transportation services begin as soon as a student arrives, when one of our drivers picks them up from the airport. Arriving in a new country is exciting but can also be confusing, and we are there from the start to help students begin the transition. ASG greets student when they arrive to initiate their studies in America and returns them to the airport at the end of the school year to return home.
ASG provides transportation to and from school in our secure vehicles. Students who live close enough to their school can ride one of the buses provided by the district to meet new people and sit with their friends.
ASG also takes students to school events such as playing in or watching sports teams, scholastic competitions & dances.
Beyond school activities, ASG offers a schedule of regular trips to local stores, markets & shopping centers where students can purchase school supplies, snacks, and other everyday items.
There are also scheduled trips to places such as gyms for students who want to maintain or improve their physical fitness, to places for hair cuts and styling, and so on.
Weekend activities are a special type of scheduled trip that changes every week. It can include (but isn’t limited to):
- trips to major shopping malls and restaurants
- major league sporting events in Cleveland or Pittsburgh
- outdoor activities like skiing, river rafting, and horseback riding
- indoor activities like wall climbing, go cart racing, and escape rooms
- visits to amusement parks or local cultural festivals and celebrations
- university tours, zoos, and museums
Outside scheduled ASG trips, students can arrange custom trips to destinations of their choice in the local region where they live. For a fee (which is split among those who wish to participate), students can spend part of their weekend where they wish so long as it is safe and appropriate.
This also includes trips to airports and train stations for students who wish to return home or travel in America over holiday breaks.
All custom trips require advanced notification to make sure student wishes can be reasonably accommodated, but we encourage students to take advantage of their time in the United States. There is so much to see and do!
