ASG Services: Residential Life

American Scholar Group provides great opportunities for international students to attend high school in the United States through our Study in America Program.

Part of what makes the opportunity great are our student services: Residence Life, Dining, Academic, and Transportation.

Deciding between going to a large city or a small town, a boarding school or a home-stay, and one hosting program or another, can have a life-altering impact on your success in an American high school as an international student

ASG provides a model that blends the advantages of home-stay & boarding school with features tailored to the circumstances of international students in America:

• Small dormitories set up as homes with live-in staff
• Family-style activities at the dorms and weekend trips
• Academic advising and English language enrichmentprograms in the dorms
• Mix of American and international dishes for dinner
• Secure keycard entrances and cameras to provide peace of mind to students and parents

Leaving your home country to attend school overseas can be daunting. It’s important to have a place to stay that feels safe & comfortable.

When students are accepted to our Study in America program, they are assigned to one of our dorms and their room is waiting for them when they arrive.

We hold a welcome event for the new students, which also serves as a welcome back event for returning students to create bonds between students & introduce the staff. Building relationships is key to adapting to life in a new place.

Student rooms feature beds, desks and chairs, lamps, and mini fridges like dorm rooms at U.S. universities. This provides space for a student to work and reminds them of the goals they are working toward. WiFi is available in all of the dorms so students can do research for their courses and access online lessons.

Students are encouraged to decorate their room with posters, banners, and meaningful personal items to make themselves at home

A variety of meals are provided by our chefs, and our cleaning staff make sure the dorms are kept in good order. Students are expected to be considerate of others and clean up any messes or clutter in their rooms or the common area. Laundry facilities are also provided so that students can keep their school uniforms and everyday clothes clean.

Learning to live respectfully and successfully in communal housing is good practice for university & builds character.

Live in Residential Advisors are always on hand to assist students, plan and coordinate activities, and create a welcoming atmosphere. ASG residential life staff aim to provide students a home away from home.
