Students for Charity
American Scholar Students are strongly encouraged to volunteer and build a spirit of philanthropy and charity. You can also strengthen your college resume by volunteering. Some opportunities for volunteering through our Charity Club are as follows:
- Good Shepherd Center – helping the director of the Center with various tasks such as organizing food pantry shelves; sorting through donated clothes; organizing food and clothes drives.
- Stray Haven – animal shelter; helping to care for dogs and cats.
- St. Paul’s Nursing Home– Spending time with senior citizens, communicating and playing games.
- Fresh Grounds – Downtown Ministries coffee house where you can learn valuable experience in customer service, and how to be a barista (making specialized coffee and tea drinks)
- Salvation Army – assisting with setting up for the fundraiser dinners
- Soles4Souls – organizing and collecting shoes for needy
Business Club
As a member of the business club, you will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the business culture, including successful business strategies, visiting local prominent businesses, and converse and mingle with influential people in our community.
Art & Vision Club
The purpose of this club is to bring together students who have a love and passion for the fine and visual arts. We want to foster the talents of the individuals who attend with the opportunity to participate in video productions, journalism, photography, and other visually artistic mediums, and to organize monthly visual arts presentations, music performance opportunities, and experiencing fine arts together by taking outings to become immersed in the artistic culture. Outings to the symphony or musicals in Pittsburgh and Cleveland will be something to consider, as well as visits to art museums. Students will meet weekly to discuss plans and come up with ideas for other artistic cultural immersion. Student leadership will be voted for by the club members in our first meeting.
Game Club
Game Club will provide a variety of games to the students: electronic games; Can jam; Corn hole; Polish Sports Bottle Bash Game; Ping pong; Pool table; Chess; board games, etc. What will you learn from Game Club?

Students will be able to learn how to become a team leader; how to make friends and organize games; how to accept winning and losing; knowing when to stop, and Gaining confidence in the things they do. And the most important thing: Have Fun!!!
Korean Society Club
Students will meet weekly, as a group to plan and organize events. Some events can include game nights, movie nights, trips for dining out, and any other events which might promote the culture of Korea. Special Korean celebrations or holidays could be observed in events created by the society. Student representatives will be voted for to be Korean society officers at the first meeting.
Vietnamese Society Club
Students will meet weekly, as a group to plan and organize events. Some events can include game nights, movie nights, trips for dining out, and any other events which might promote the culture of Vietnam. Special Vietnamese celebrations or holidays could be observed in events created by the society. Student representatives will be voted for to be the Vietnamese Society officers at the first meeting.
Chinese Society Club
Students will meet weekly, as a group to plan and organize events. Some events can include game nights, movie nights, trips for dining out, and any other events which might promote the culture of China. Special Chinese celebrations or holidays could be observed in events created by the society. Student representatives will be voted for to be the Vietnamese Society officers at the first meeting.
