ASG Students volunteer at Local Retirement Home
March 30th, 2017 | Student Spotlight
A number of ASG students have been performing community service at the St. Paul’s retirement community in Greenville. These students have been assisting the retirees with their bingo nights every week. One student, Julie Oh, is a frequent volunteer at St. Paul’s. One of her favorite things about volunteering is when the man who she helps with bingo falls asleep, every time he plays, and she gets to finish his game! Tom Lin says that, “It is really fun helping out with bingo night. I learn a lot from the people there.” This charity work has helped the students to build connections with the local community while allowing them to learn valuable life lessons from their elders. Not only does this help the students build a resume of community service, it also helps them to better themselves while giving back to the community. These students are finding ways to help their community and to touch the lives of people in their American hometown, creating bonds that will last a lifetime.
