ASG Students Share their Cultures with Girl Scouts of America

March 30th, 2017 | Student Spotlight

Five ASG students recently gave a presentation on their home countries for the Greenville, PA troop of the Girl Scouts of America.  On Monday, March 27th, Jayna Choi, Katie Yang, Kandee Nguyen, Jennifer Hoang, and Dinushika Pinto spoke to the members of Girl Scout Troop 30316.  These students, representing four countries, related to the girl scouts a great wealth of information pertaining to each of their home countries.  The girls described the education systems, environment, food, and cultures of their homes.  Additionally, our students taught the girl scouts how to say hello and write their names in each of their languages.  Kandee Nguyen said, “Talking to the girl scouts gave me experience at expressing myself to people from other countries,” while Katie Yang related that “It was fun to share our culture with people from a different culture.”  The Girl Scouts were very honored and pleased to host this presentation, and were excited to gain insights into other cultures.  Cultural exchange opportunities such as this comprise one of the most valuable and rewarding components of studying abroad.
